Position: Staff Support Manager

Reporting to the Race Director, the Staff Support Manageris responsible for executing all errands for critical items needed on site. The SSM sets up and maintains the cafe and production offices in proper working order, including stocking with a sufficient supply of necessary materials, and communicates with operation leaders to assist as needed. The primary goal of the SSM is to ensure the entire production staff is supplied with the tools and materials necessary to complete assembly and construction of obstacles and the festival area. Managers are a support position within the Build and Logistics Operation that assist in managing volunteers, providing meals, and ultimately contributing to the success of a smooth event.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inventory and setup Café (beverages and snacks on display);
  • Entering online orders as necessary for events, as well as making in market purchases for supplies and meal prep items as needed;
  • Sourcing and/or cooking meals for up to 100 people while maintaining a budget for all staff and volunteers onsite daily;
  • Point of contact for volunteers during the build cycle;
  • Reconciliation of all PA purchases on site. Use proper documents for purchase tracking;
  • Manage errands for essential materials for on-site staff involving the use of up to 26-foot U-Haul trucks, flatbeds, and trucks;
  • Label and track radios for all staff for the entire build cycle. This includes entering information in the radio log, noting any damage and sending items out for repair as necessary;
  • Work with the procurement department and Delivery Inventory Manager to order supplies for the following race according to the deadlines put in place;
  • Inventory all staff t-shirts and volunteer t-shirts kept in the cage following the event;
  • Pack up all cafe and cage items and ensure they are loaded into the appropriate trailers for shipping to the next event;
  • Assist on-site leadership with sourcing materials from local vendors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Compliance and completion of all safety training;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to cook for large groups of people or willingness to learn how to do so;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license without restrictions and clean driving record;
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of volunteers and employees (read and speak conversational English);
  • Willingness and ability to travel 11+ days at a time;
  • Demonstrate full range of movement including but not limited to lifting, standing, bending, reaching, twisting, and crawling;
  • Occasionally lifts, pushes, pulls, and moves equipment and material weighing up to 50 pounds;
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls;
  • Have experience and confidence with the operation of all motorized equipment;
  • Have a proven attention to detail and keen sense for organization and cleanliness along with exceptional time management skills;
  • Confidence in a sales and marketing environment;
  • Being familiar with hand and power tools is a plus;
  • Thrive in a fast paced high stimulus environment and be able to multitask;
  • Be an excellent creative problem solver;
  • Have a desire to bring fast, viable solutions to the entire production staff that they support;
  • Be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office Suite and Cloud based computing software packages (ie. Google Drive).
