Duties

Reporting to the Manager of the Student Placement Program, the Student Placement Facilitator (SPF) provides an integral role to ensure student placement preparedness and success. The role is responsible for delivering a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy and will act as intermediary between SLC students, staff, internal departments, and external community partners. The position accurately reconciles and retains large volumes of documentation including contracts, immunization records, training compliance and insurance information. The incumbent ensures effective communication between various stakeholders to certify students become and remain placement ready in accordance with College, Agencies and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a two-year diploma in Business Administration, preferably in a Medical Office Administration Program (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).

A minimum of three years of experience in a computerized office environment providing a variety of administrative and office support services where confidentiality and securing accurate and sensitive information is a paramount. Experience must also include providing presentations, scheduling, liaising with community partners and exchanging a large volume of daily communications and information between the organization and external institutions. Experience within a health care setting reviewing, confirming and securing immunization information will be preferred.

Other Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately at a minimum of sixty (60) Words Per Minute.
  • Ability to identify potential student placement issues or scheduling conflicts resulting from placement requests and assists in resolution and determine when to escalate concerns.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and acts as a Liaison with Placement Agencies to facilitate the coordination of all pre-placement needs, while continuing to foster and build solid foundations with agency partners.
  • Adapts new/emerging technological tools and proficiency in computer applications as necessary, to effectively complete daily tasks.
  • Demonstrates active listening, critical thinking skills and advises students to address and resolve general placement problems and or areas of concern.
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to address competing priorities and accurate attention to reporting details required.
  • Ability to collect and collate large volumes of information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple competing priorities hourly/daily.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location or work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.
