The Geospatial Services section team of GeoBC is spread across the province in regional teams to serve the Natural Resource sector ministries. These positions with the Thompson Okanagan Region team in Kamloops conduct advanced spatial data analysis and provides geospatial products in support of government decision makers for a wide range of natural resource sector, land, and water projects.

Job Requirements
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Education
- Undergraduate degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems, resource management, geography, computer science or a related field; OR
- A Technical Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, resource management, geography, computer science or a related field; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of experience using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10.x or ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis, cartography, and data management.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in automating GIS workflows using python scripting.
- Minimum 1 year of experience developing web-mapping applications using ArcGIS Online, JavaScript, or HTML5
- Minimum 1 year of experience in managing and implementing geospatial projects, providing geospatial solutions, and delivering complex analysis projects in support of client’s business needs.
- Minimum 1 year of experience consulting or providing expert geospatial advice to non-technical people (clients, decision makers, technical and professional staff) and in ensuring the provision of technical products that meet the needs of natural resource clients and users.
- Experience communicating information clearly and effectively, both visually and orally.
- Experience with using additional programming or GIS scripting languages: JavaScript, R, Arcade,GitHub, ArcGIS API for Python.
- Experience using ArcGIS Pro
- Experience processing LiDAR or drone imagery; imagery interpretation and analysis
- Experience using open source GIS software such as QGIS, SAGA, GRASS
- Experience supporting clients’ use of mobile devices for field work using ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Collector, Survey 123, or FileMaker Pro.
- Experience with a wide variety of environmental and natural resource management data sets, particularly from BC.
