Core Purpose And Essence Of The Position

The Senior Manager of operations is a highly visible leadership role. This individual is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operation, compliance, and financial results for a designated operation. The Senior Manager will serve as a primary customer interface for all leadership decisions regarding the client account. This role is the designated CIP Champion of overseeing local continuous improvement activities, LEAN practices, supply chain analysis, six sigma initiatives. He/she will also ensure that the operation adheres to the overall corporate mission, vision, and core values of DSV while consistently meeting client and company expectations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Operations

• Accountable for overseeing manpower, recruiting, retention, and development of people for the operation in his/her scope of responsibility.
• Ensures that procedures exist to guarantee client service, productivity, as well as facilities and equipment maintenance.
• Sets goals to provide continuous improvement.
• Primary point of contact for the client relationship management.
• Ensures that the appropriate standards of the client scope of work and service levels are met at all times. Collaborates with Engineering, Senior Management and Key Account Management
• Implements and monitors KPIs for assigned operation
• Coordinates and leads business reviews with appropriate client and company representatives for each reporting operation

Safety

• Responsible for the overall safety and security of assigned operations and staff .
• Maintain positive IFR statistics and other safety metrics for assigned operation.
• Actively support and oversee site safety programs and committees for the operation.
• Work in conjunction with company safety resources to ensure best practices are in place, maintained, and updated as needed to meet compliance standards with OHSA in Ontario an WorkSafe BC in British Columbia or other relevant regulatory agencies.

Labor Management

• Actively supports and practices mentoring, succession planning, and management development activities at the site level.
• The ability to develop effective relationships provide leadership and integrate diverse individuals toward unifying objectives.
• Actively manage the labour force on a daily basis to maximize productivity and improve profitability.

Budgeting

• Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and recommend annual operating budget for assigned operation
• Develops and manages a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within budgeted cost, revenue, and profit parameters for the operation
  

Primary Interactions

The primary exchange will be working with upper management, operations managers, supervisors and clients.

Computer And Mathematical Skills

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems); specific preference for knowledge in CargoWRITE
• Advanced level expertise required in accounting and financial mathematical applications as related to managing a P&L and preparing site/operational budgets
• Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications; specifically MS Excel
  

Language Skills

• Fluent English (reading, writing, verbal)
  

MINIMUM EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• Post-Secondary Education required. College Degree preferred, but will consider equivalent experience or combination of education and experience
• 5 years’ experience required in a leadership role in a logistics/distribution/supply chain environment in an operations management capacity
• Retail industry vertical experience is preferred
• 3PL management experience strongly preferred
