Job Summary:

This position is part of NRG’s Billing Operations Group and is responsible for Canada Home processes of the Early Out Program, collection agencies, write off activity, bankruptcies, and Indigenous Nations. Additional responsibilities include, reporting statistical and quantitative measures, account reconciliation, and various other projects covering all aspects of the Early Out Program, collection agencies, write off activity, bankruptcies, and Indigenous Nations


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for tracking performance of the collection agencies and Early Out Program.
  • Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly critical activities take place to ensure accurate placement and update of uncollected accounts at the agencies.
  • Ensure write off activities take place in accordance with NRG risk and accounting policy
  • Ensure all Sarbanes Oxley requirements for the write off policy are met monthly
  • Participate in cross functional teams (Customer Operations, Marketing, IT, Legal, and Regulatory) resulting in resolving complex account issues involving high profile and large customers and integrating systems.
  • Help prepare financial, operational, and business-related analyses and research in such areas as past due accounts and bad debt impact.
  • Conduct production line monitoring activities and direct efforts of staff to ensure timely processing of early out, collection agency and write off activities.
  • Develop relationships with, and present a positive professional image and demeanor in dealing with all process stakeholders.
  • Analyze system and team process to assure best industry practices are utilized to minimize bad debt.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with IT, Marketing, Legal, and Regulatory to resolve complex customer disputes, improve system and business processes, and facilitate “win/win” results.
  • Assist with the analysis, justification and economic evaluation of process and system changes.
  • Perform user acceptance testing for all system changes related to supervised processes.


Working Conditions:


  • Remote work environment with occasional office work.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.
  • Travel (minimal).


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Computer Science required from accredited four-year university; 5 years’ experience in an analyst position can substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in an analyst position, with experience in customer service, back–office operations and demonstrated abilities in problem solving and team projects. Knowledge of the utility and/or deregulated energy industry is a plus.
  • SAP/CCS processing knowledge is desired.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Knowledge of the utility industry.
  • Knowledge of the energy market
  • Working knowledge of SAP for Utilities system.
  • Advanced Excel Skills


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge or aptitude to understand CCS billing, accounts receivable system, and co-dependent processes/functions across Customer Operations.
  • Understanding of performance measurement concepts including basic analytic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Able to take a leadership role in a team project to establish plans, coordinate team activities, and assure successful completion of objectives.
  • Ability to use fundamental math daily (add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages)
  • Excels in quickly conceptualizing and assimilating data to make decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Skilled in performing statistical computations.
  • Able to not just produce data, but to analyze trends and make recommendations.
  • Experience developing process maps with Visio software.
  • Adapts effectively to new and changing environments.
  • Outstanding initiative and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral business communication skills.
  • Proficient with standard office workstation technology, including Microsoft Office suite of software tools.
