Solar Installer

Victoria, BC

$18.70- $22.44 per hour

Shift Energy Group is seeking aSolar Installerto join our Field Crew team inVictoria, BC.The position is a full-time permanent role.The Solar installer will install solar racking and modules for the interconnection of residential and commercial solar PV systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified by system designers.
  • Assemble rooftop equipment and properly seal all roof penetrations.
  • Perform trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly as required.
  • Interface with Crew Lead and Field Manager to ensure compliance with system design and necessary codes
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the process.
  • Work primarily with others on a crew of 3.

Safety is a primary focus at Shift, and every team member is responsible for ensuring safe work practices.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor Field work occurs in adverse weather conditions and normal hazards associated with construction sites.
  • This position requires climbing, working at heights, and/or working within confined spaces.
  • This position requires the ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • This position requires performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a residential/commercial or construction setting, preferably installing solar panels or roofing.
  • Previous Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to provide a driving abstract are required.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Willing to provide Criminal record check.
  • Valid Fall Protection Certificate is an asset.

Working Hours:40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm

Location: This position involves regular travel throughout British Columbia, and the candidate should be comfortable with occasional overnight stays and out-of-town projects.
