Senior Specialist - Systems Safety

Calian is currently recruiting for a Senior System Safety Specialist (Engineering and Regulatory Support) in support of the Professional Airworthiness, Engineering and Support Servieces Division of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Senior System Safety Specialist’s Duites will include teh following (but are not limited to)"

- Research and evaluate Design Changes and conduct aircraft type certification activities;

- Provide system safety input in the application of both civil and military System Safety standards in the development of the certification basis in support of Design Changes and aircraft Type Certification;

- Evaluate new technologies and systems for future use on DND/CAF aircraft;

- Conduct oversight of accredited organizations performing technical/maintenance activities and/or performing finding of compliance within the system safety specialty;

- Provide system safety input in the development and upkeep of Rules, Standards and Advisory Material for the Technical Airworthiness Manual;

- Provide system safety input in the development and upkeep of the Airworthiness Design Standards Manual Standards and Advisory Material;

- Prepare or assist in the preparation of Technical Notes, Minutes or Advisories; and

- Provide recommendations to the Technical Airworthiness Authority on matters related to the Airworthiness Review Board, Risk Management, Technical Airworthiness Manual Rules and Standards, etc.

Required for this Position

- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university in engineering

- Specialist trainign in aviation system safety

- 10 years experience related to system safety engineering

- Experience in aircraft systems certification including major design changes or certification of new aircraft
