At Powell, we appreciate our employees by providing a comprehensive salary package, RRSP matching, extensive benefits and job training all within a professional & friendly working environment.Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Painter will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Fabrication Department. The Painter is responsible for machining Powell Canada products into E-house structures.Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cleaning, preparing, painting, coating and clean-up on metal base frames and other non-paint line items.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient storage, handling, cleaning, use and disposal of all paints and other chemicals and tools used in the painting process.
  • Responsible to test and assure that the correct coverage, colors, thickness, and quality of the paint and coatings meets the specification for the job.
  • Responsible for recording of time and requested information for the job and processes.
  • Monitors and assures all inventory levels of all paints, chemicals and tools.
  • Maintenance and inspection of all equipment related to blasting and painting with a working knowledge of paint pump mechanisms, blasting equipment.
  • Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
  • Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
  • Ensure work area remains clean and well organized. Other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.
  • In lieu of a post-secondary degree, must possess a minimum of 1 years relevant progressive work experience.
  • Basic working knowledge with MES (Manufacturing and Execution System).
  • Safety certifications are an asset for the position.
  • Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position successful candidates will undergo pre-employment substance abuse and medical testing upon hire.
Working Conditions
  • Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
  • Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses and respirators) when required.
  • Must be able to work in a heated or cooled environment.
  • Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, and all-size extension ladders).
  • Must be able to work on platforms up to 7 feet or more above ground.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must lift or carry 10-50lbs. frequently or continuously.
  • Using upper extremities to frequently apply or exert a force (pushing and pulling) 50lbs-100lbs.
  • Must operate self-powered equipment and withstand vibration.
  • Able to do repetitive hand work with both hands.
  • Frequently or continuously be able to look over both shoulders and work with both arms above and below shoulders.
