Our Electrification Engineering and Asset Management office is seeking a Senior Manager, Electrification Operational Readiness to be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of the Traction Power asset class base transfer program for GO Heavy Rail, Subways and LRT systems. The role is also responsible for the asset class project interface and risk based compliance assurance and audit effort of project delivery controlled compliance assurance activities during the Design and Construction phases, and prior to, revenue service commencement as managed by the agencies Capital Project Group (CPG).

What will I be doing?

  • Develops and leads the asset class operational readiness program in close collaboration with asset class technical experts, the divisional RT-EAM Operational Readiness Director and CPG Project Delivery Teams for the transfer of the asset class base for GO Heavy Rail, LRT and Subway projects from CPG to RT-EAM.
  • Leads and supports select recruitments and development of engineering and asset management competency and resource planning for the Traction Power engineering and asset management team in close collaboration with senior leadership and cross disciplinary with engineering and project delivery teams.
  • Leads, plans, and prioritizes workload, coordinates and controls Metrolinx SME and TA contract teams to perform strategic risk-based assurance of contract requirement compliance for vital traction power system aspects, compliance audits and corrective action to direct and support CPG Delivery teams.
  • Establishes, monitors, and updates a project risk register, and ensures that appropriate systems are put in place to manage project documentation and records.
  • Provides coordinated technical support to CPG delivery teams that oversee P3 design delivery and the implementation of new systems.
  • Provides senior leadership oversight and direction to staff and project teams
  • Supports the definition of technical specification, assurance management and acceptance criteria processes for relevant contractual arrangements
  • Manages and delivers technical briefings for senior management, staff and project delivery teams as part of a structured cascade process.
  • Works collaboratively to support and inform the safety and technical verification review by project delivery teams.
  • Works collaboratively with the asset class technical leadership to assure the safe and effective design and integration of new and enhanced assets into the asset base
  • Builds collaborative relationships with senior organizational leadership and stakeholders
  • Monitors the progress of projects to ensure that planning objectives are delivered on time and within budget and that anticipated business results are achieved

What skills and qualifications do I need?
  • University Degree in Engineering, Architecture and/or rail sector and related power industry experience, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimal ten (10) years experience in P3 Project planning and/or delivery, testing and commissioning, operations and maintenance of railway transit systems
  • PMP, P.Eng. or C.E.T accreditation will be beneficial
  • Knowledge of project/program management and related systems requirements and development methodologies,
  • Leadership and management skills to manage and motivate a team/unit
  • Vendor and contract management, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of policy development, budget control, risk and change management, and project management principles and methods to lead and manage strategic/business planning programs, projects and continuous improvement initiatives
