The opportunity:
We are currently looking for a Senior IT Auditor to join our Audit Services team on a permanent basis, reporting to Manager, Audit Services – IT. The Senior IT Auditor will be a key member of Emera’s Audit Services team, working closely with the Manager, Audit Services – IT, and other leaders and colleagues across the Emera group of companies. The successful candidate will possess the ability to build solid business relationships and bring enthusiasm, initiative, and a strong commitment to professional development. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate prepared to take on a Senior Auditor position or continue to develop in a Senior Auditor role.
Accountabilities:
More specifically, in this role you will:

  • Be responsible for planning and executing various risk-based operational, regulatory, and IT audits;
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risks and/or assess compliance with corporate policies and procedures, laws and regulations;
  • Have responsibility for each audit from pre-planning engagements, reporting and communicating results to all levels of management and monitoring remediation progress;
  • Support the SOX program and provide advisory services related to risk, control and corporate governance;
  • Strive to continually improve the quality of our audit activities as well as enhance Emera’s overall control environment;
  • Assess controls within the Information Technology Landscape, and have experience performing data queries and analysis through the use of various extraction and analytical tools;
  • Quickly assess a situation, evaluate options, and adjust your approach to any engagement.

Skills, Competencies and Experience:
As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:

  • Undergraduate degree, IT auditing designation (CISA), professional accounting designation (CPA/CA, CGA and/or CMA) and other auditing designations (CIA, CFE and or CRMA) would be an asset;
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ business/IT experience with at least two years’ experience in an Information Technology audit environment;
  • Working knowledge of internal control frameworks (COSO as an example) and IT operations control frameworks (COBIT as an example);
  • Working knowledge of ITGC auditing approaches and methods;
  • Experience with data analytics and CAAT’s (computer assisted auditing techniques) is considered an asset;
  • Experience supporting NI 52-109/Sox ITGC compliance programs would be considered an asset.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and broad business acumen;
  • Solid critical and strategic thinking abilities;
  • Ability to lead an engagement team and provide direction and delegate work to team members.
