  • Support Research Investigators to oversee the operation and management of research projects
  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practice and incorporate GCP requirements in all stages of research projects from start up to close up
  • Adhere to regulatory and local requirements (i.e. annual safety reports, periodic safety reports)
  • Adhere to timelines and milestones
  • Provide support to all collaborators on a regular basis through communication
  • Liaise with internal and external collaborators involved with research projects, to enhance study protocol, complete regulatory/ethics submissions, and process payments for sites and other collaborators
  • Support survey distribution, interviews, data collection and analysis
  • Collect and enter survey data
  • Compile, review, and file essential documents
  • Help create and test data reports and databases
  • Respond to data-related questions and query from internal and external partners
  • Prepare for meetings and teleconferences
  • Implement all study related amendments requested by the Principal Investigators
  • Respond to daily inquiries and facilitate communications on behalf of the research team
  • Help with publications and other study related documentations
  • Perform activities related to major protocol deviations
  • Creation of data collection forms
  • Regular communication with key study stakeholders
  • Increase awareness of study by attending unit-based events e.g. huddle, staff meetings, etc.
  • Attend regular meetings prepare minutes and lines of actions
  • This position is temporary for six months
Requires 2 years of relevant experience

Highly proficient in MS Office and data base applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)

Strong analytical skills with particular attention to detail

Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Excellent organizational skills, with a high degree of motivation and self-directedness

Demonstrated ability in patient assessment, teaching and counseling

Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple concurrent tasks

Ability to travel between HHS sites

Exemplary problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with an ability to identify problems and seek additional information, or implement corrective processes, as appropriate

Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of position

Assets

Previous experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.

Unit Summary

The Research Assistant will support the ongoing evaluation of the clinical extern program at Hamilton Health Sciences. The clinical extern program employs learners from various disciplines (such as nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, respiratory therapy, and paramedics) as unregulated health care providers who support clinical teams across the five Hamilton Health Sciences sites.

Schedule Work Hours

Part time hours, 15 hrs/week.

The position is temporary for six months.
