Your Opportunity:

This position supervises a team of Radiopharmacy Specialists that perform quality control tasks on positron emitting and clinical trial radiopharmaceuticals. It is responsible for the group’s activities in relation to work schedules, duties, training, and day to day operation. In addition to supervising the group, this position also performs the quality control duties consisting of assisting the Senior Radiochemist in managing ERC’s operational quality systems, including performing practical quality control and environmental monitoring, writing SOPs, reviewing SOPs and batch records as well as performing data capture and analysis. When required, the position will also be responsible for the technical and clerical procedures involved in the production, formulation, dispensing, and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals prepared at the Edmonton Radiopharmaceutical Centre.

Description:

As a Radiopharmacy Specialist II, you will prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals from both commercial kits and raw materials. You will assist in the use and maintenance of scientific equipment and instrumentation, radiation and workplace health and safety procedures, develop and write Standard Operating Procedures, check supply inventory, prepare and dispense radiopharmaceutical kit production and assist in the packaging and transportation of radiopharmaceuticals.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Chemical technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Minimum two to five years’ experience in handling radioactivity, in radiopharmacy or related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A BSc in chemistry, pharmacy, or physical sciences or a technical diploma in a relevant scientific discipline or other equivalent training or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years experience in radiopharmaceutical production or quality control. 2+ years in a supervisory role preferred. Experience with quality control testing of radiopharmaceutical products and related starting or intermediate products such as precusors. Experience with the following methodologies: TLC, HPLC, GC and potentially ICP-OES and ICP-MS. Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, planning and interpersonal skills are required. Good Manufacturing Practice experience.
