SIN Structures Inc., a division of Steelcon Fabrication Inc., in St. Catharines, Ontario is seeking a Project EIT to assist Project Managers with coordinating, administrative functions, and support on projects. This includes coordinating subcontracts, interfacing with the engineering design team and field staff to plan, execute, and problem solve.

As a project eit, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Tracking contract progress and reporting.
  • Communicating with select subcontractors and responsible for some subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and monitoring progress.
  • Reviewing and understanding contract obligations as per the responsible work scope.
  • Assisting project manager in creating and issuing tender packages, subcontracts and monitoring their progress.
  • Maintaining and performs project document control and procedures.
  • Assisting project manager and field supervisor in reporting project scope performance as per site health & safety, cost management, schedule, and quality.
  • Preparing and tracking progress claims and estimates.
  • Assisting in overall structural construction coordination and planning.
  • Managing change order process, including pricing, negotiating, processing, and assessing cost
  • Performing detailed review of drafters work prior to submittals being issued.
  • Performing detailed review of all approval returns to ensure all information has been provided or verified and RFIs issued accordingly.
  • Being involved in and assisting with overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
  • Coordinating connection designs (Design & Development division)

What you will bring to this role:

  • Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • 1+ years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, project health & safety, building materials, and required standards as per discipline.
  • Intermediate knowledge of means and methods and construction sequences.
  • Ability to create a comprehensive schedule.
  • Ability to administer subcontracts and contract documents.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
  • Basic knowledge of construction law and building codes.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of decision-making authority and ability to present solutions.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
