Century Group Lands Corporation is now seeking a Project Accountant to work closely with the Senior Project Accountant.


POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant, this role is responsible for development and construction accounting and reporting. This role has a combination of daily accounting tasks, budget and contract administration, and performing analysis. They ensure their respective area operates effectively and efficiently to meet business objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Full cycle accounting for a portfolio of development entities which includes typical accounting tasks: journal entries, month-end, reconciliations, bank reconciliations, monthly GST tax filings

  • Project accounting for portfolio of construction and development jobs

  • Project reporting, analysis, and cash flow forecasting

  • Manages budget and commitments

  • Approves all invoices for payment, and manages the timing of payments to correspond with cash flow needs

  • Manages holdback releases and holdback reconciliations

  • Prepares project financing draws and analysis

  • Full cycle accounting for a portfolio of corporate entities (overhead, holding companies, etc.)

  • Mentor to junior staff and in some cases, reviewer of their work

  • Participates in year-end activities including working with external auditors

  • Ensuring all accounting controls and processes are followed

  • Strives to improve processes and reporting

  • Other duties and projects as assigned


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Requires at least two (2) years in a similar position.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong computer skills, including intermediate Excel skills and an ability to quickly learn new software

  • Strong problem solving skills with an attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to maintain integrity in relationships with co-workers and external customers

  • Experience with Yardi is an asset
