The Supervisor of Procurement will oversee the integrity and continuous improvement of the full range of procurement services to all City departments to ensure effective and responsible sourcing and obtaining of materials, equipment and services while mitigating risks to the organization. This position supports the departments by overseeing or participating in contract creation & negotiation including managing relationships with suppliers, consultants, and vendors.

• You have advanced knowledge, understanding and application of tendering and contract law, corporate supply chain related policies and procedures, and the principles and practices of public purchasing.
• You have demonstrated experience leading complex procurement initiatives.
• You have high standard of ethics, professional conduct, integrity, discretion, and can handle the pressure of public scrutiny.
• You are proficient working within and leveraging enterprise resource planning systems to achieve efficient and effective supply chain related business processes.
• You are able to promote and maintain a cooperative, collaborative results-focused team environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of bachelor’s degree in business or discipline relevant to procurement from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Five (5) years of experience in a senior procurement role, preferable in the public sector including four (4) years supervisory experience.
• Valid Supply Chain professional designation such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) and/or Certified Public procurement Officer (CPPO) and ability to maintain certifications/designations are required.
• An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.

The City of Medicine Hat Supply Chain team has recently completed an enhancement project to the Procure-To-Pay process with the implementation of contracts and requisitions modules in the ERP system. This has streamlined processing of requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and payments. An upcoming initiative will enable digital invoice registration through Artificial Intelligence to further improve our processes. THAT’S INNOVATION, MEDICINE HAT STYLE!
