The Opportunity:

Our client, a growing non-automotive manufacturing organization, is currently looking for a Plant Accountant to join their team based in Windsor, Ontario. Reporting into the Controller, this role will be responsible for performing month-end activities, cost analysis, and inventory requirements. This is a full-time, permanent role and is fully on-site.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Manage and oversee inventory requirements, conducting cost analysis to optimize inventory levels
  • Plan and execute physical inventory counts, ensuring accurate stock records.
  • Maintain comprehensive fixed assets ledger and depreciation schedules
  • Process and post all wire payments for accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies related to purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments
  • Regularly review accounts payable listings, applying any necessary adjustments or credits
  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and payment-related issues.
  • Calculate and record accruals for expenses at month-end, accounting for outstanding invoices
  • Maintain balanced intercompany accounts and reconcile any discrepancies
  • Effectively manage and control petty cash disbursements, replenishing as needed and maintaining accurate records
  • Perform analysis of General Ledger accounts as required, identifying and investigating any anomalies
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of inventory records with third-party warehouses, promptly addressing any discrepancies
  • Invoice sister companies for intercompany transactions, accurately recording transactions in the general ledger
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company, provincial, and federal safety regulations
  • Carry out additional assigned duties as needed to support the team and meet business objectives

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A college of university degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a similar area of study, or relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

Complimentary Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience using an ERP system would be considered an asset
