This is a shop based position with on demand field maintenance/repairs.

This position is responsible to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of gas and diesel engines and heavy-duty construction equipment in a shop and field environment. The Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.

In this role, your main responsibilities are to:

• 
  Perform preventative, planned and unplanned maintenance, diagnose and repair overhaul on equipment, heavy trucks and trailers according to company standards.
• Properly completing all required paperwork in detail and in accordance with established procedures.
• Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
• Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
• Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
• Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
• Perform other mechanical repair work as required.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Ensure a safe work environment by following policies and procedures on quality, health, safety and environment.
• Comply with client’s, company and site-specific rules and standards.
• Comply with equipment operating safety rules.
• Accurate completion of work orders and timesheets.

In order to be successful in this position you must:

• 
  Be a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic.
• Possess between 5 – 10 years of experience as a ticketed or Journeyman Mechanic.
• Must possess minimum Class 5 License with air endorsement (Q)
• Have experience working on Dozers, Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers, etc.
• Field service truck experience is considered a strong asset.
• Heavy truck and trailer experience would be considered an asset.
• Have welding capabilities is considered an asset.
• Be able to work well under pressure and portray strong attention to detail.
• Have a tool box and basic tools (up to and including ½” driver socket set) sufficient to perform servicing and repairs.
• Must successfully pass a Drug and Alcohol Test as well as a health assessment including 50 lb. Fitness to work test.
