The Opportunity:

The mission of the Part-Time Shipper/Shop Assistant is to assist to ensure all outbound shipments are completed in a timely, cost effective manner during our busy season. Working from our Kelowna Sustainability Studio, you will be an integral part of a manufacturing team that creates best-in-market finished goods that ship directly to customers and business partners.

In this position you will be proficient in shipping and warehousing practices, while being a self-starter who thrives in an environment of continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Teamwork and adaptability will be critical to your success. Meeting deadlines and delivering on promises nurtures your soul. The position will be 16-20 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. We are looking for two Part-Time Shippers and Shop Assistancewith flexible weekday, evening & weekend availability to work in our manufacturing facility.

The Responsibilities:
  • Pick, process and ship orders accurately, quickly and according to Pela’s standards.
  • Assemble product packaging, prepare packages & labels for shipping.
  • Receive incoming supplies and raw materials.
  • Sort and organize stock and supplies.
  • Organize and schedule daily shipments with each carrier.
  • Maintain a warehouse including putting away stock, sweeping, organizing supplies, and garbage disposal.
  • Perform inventory counts on finished goods and packing materials.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
  • Assist others as necessary.
  • Ensure safe operation of all equipment, follow all protocols for warehouse safety

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Ability to learn procedures and add efficiency to processes
  • Has shipping experience and is familiar with various couriers
  • Knowledge of Google Suite and ShipHero preferred
  • Works well independently, a self-starter
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Committed to quality, safety and communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride of workmanship.
  • A team-player who wants to participate in green manufacturing and promote a sustainable future.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for a 8 -hour shift.
