Who you are:

Geotab is seeking a Network Engineering team member who will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Geotab’s growing network infrastructure. This position will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

What you’ll do:

As a Network Engineering team member your key area of responsibility will be to maintain Geotab’s internal server and services requirements using best practices, including hardware, network, and virtualization. To be successful in this role, you will need to be highly organized to manage multiple projects simultaneously and design, build, deliver, and maintain network solutions to meet customer requirements, and lead overall efforts in working with cross-functional teams. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills in order to highlight design risks, provide alternative options, and recommend quality solutions for specified problems.

How you’ll make an impact:

    • Maintain Geotab’s internal server and services requirements using best practices, including hardware, network, and virtualization.
    • Maintain cloud infrastructure network: setup, troubleshooting, monitoring.
    • Configure and install various network devices and services.
    • Set up Firewalls, Wi-Fi AP, inter-site VPN, multi-WAN and multi VLAN environments.
    • Set up and troubleshoot Cisco and Dell Layer 2/Layer 3 Switches.
    • Create and update documentation (design specs, project documentation, KB/SOP documents, other misc. documentation as required)Implement processes, standards, and governance of network environments.
    • Review the current network design and propose a fully redundant and resilient network to support daily business operations and future growth, including DR needs.
    • Be the subject matter expert for all network-related functions, provide cross-training and knowledge sharing, to empower the team to be more successful.
    • Troubleshoot network issues including WAN, LAN, VOIP, DMZ, and other various.
    • Provides subject matter expertise and leadership of network technologies contributing to integrated solution designs, development, and implementation.
    • Enable automation to reduce release cycle time and provide Higher Quality.
    • Incorporate Security controls and technologies into the overall system implementations.
    • Provide advice and recommendations to management, to assist in technology directions, decisions, security policy, and road map.
    • Review network utilization and performance trends.
    • Continuously seek to more efficiently manage and utilize technology, platforms, and systems.
    • Highlight design risks, provide alternative options, and recommend a quality solution to specified problems.
    • Mentor, guide, and influence others, acting as a technology thought leader.
    • Set project implementation approach for team, customer, and external supplier activities and deliverables.
    • Design, build, deliver, and maintain network solutions to meet customer requirements, and lead overall efforts in working with cross-functional teams.
    • Identify and make appropriate changes to technologies, integrated platforms, and systems to meet Geotab operational requirements.
    • Wi-fi management - install, maintain and offer tech support for Wi-Fi systems at a corporate level.
    • Automate repetitive tasks with appropriate scripting languages and tools.
    • Work with Development Operations on IT tasks and projects as assigned.
    • Provide on-call IT support.

What you’ll bring to this role:

    • 3-5 years of experience in Network Engineering or within the IT field.
    • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
    • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science or a related field highly valued.
    • Working experience (setup, troubleshoot, automate) with cloud-based networks and network virtual devices preferable Google or AWS/Azure.
    • Radius infrastructure, hands-on experience with troubleshooting and site-survey tools.
    • Familiar with Wireless Transfer Speeds 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad and other new and emerging standards Wireless network design and administration.
    • Experience deploying QoS in LAN/WLAN environments in support of multimedia and voice applications.
    • Scripting skills (using devops tools for automation purposes, linux bash, powershell).
    • Experience with managing DNS, DNSSEC, SNMP.
    • Experience with enterprise network configuration and/or support.
    • Experience with cloud-based computing services such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
    • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.
    • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
    • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
    • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
