Oldcastle APG Canada West is excited to announce that we are rapidly expanding and actively searching for a Journeyman/women Millwright to join our highly motivated team. Job Summary:

The Millwright is responsible for tasks such as welding & fabrication, machine maintenance, troubleshooting problems, installing hydraulics, assisting in machine upgrades and capital projects, mold assembly and repair and general house-keeping duties, and helping plant staff when needed. The successful candidate will have prior experience working in a manufacturing facility both independently and in a team-setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and develop opportunities to incorporate safe work practices into daily working routine; assist others in identifying and adhering to established safety procedures; be mindful of potential safety issues and report them immediately to a Supervisor, Safety Committee member or Safety Manager.
  • Fabrication – must be able to take a project from concept to build without the assistance of others
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged
  • Inspect machinery as it arrives and then assemble them with the safe and effective use of hand tools.
  • Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks, squares, ruler, micrometers and plumb bobs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to a P.M. schedule
  • Assist in development of repair estimates
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits, hydraulic install
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budgets and project status
  • Schedules critical and non-critical activities effectively for preventative maintenance program with Operations Manager
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation
  • Learn how to operate all plant equipment
  • Other assigned work as required


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Millwright working toward or with Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
