Position: Marketing and Outreach Coordinator

Project: Foreign Credential Recognition Loans Project (FCR)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Locations: Vancouver and Surrey, BC

Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS) Society is a registered non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1987. PICS Society provides a broad spectrum of programs and services which includes Employment Programs, Settlement Services, Language Services, Social Programs and Housing Services. Project Summary: The PICS’ Foreign Credential Recognition Loans Project (THE FCR) has been specifically designed to address particular barriers to employment faced by internationally trained immigrants, by offering career and financial counselling and support services to achieve the following objectives:

  • Contribute to developing fair, transparent, consistent and timely foreign credential assessment and recognition capacity
  • Develop and strengthen Canada’s foreign credential assessment and recognition capacity
  • Contribute to improving Labour market integration outcomes of internationally trained individuals in targeted occupations and sectors

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the FCR program to local stakeholders
  • Provides FCR program information to internationally trained professionals
  • Delivers weekly in-person / online FCR info sessions
  • Completes intakes and assessments as required
  • Interviews clients for FCR eligibility
  • Provides labour market information
  • Provides recommendations to Financial Counsellors for financial assistance
  • Liaises with other service providers regarding referrals and program services
  • Recruits, selects, and registers program participants for group and other programs based on program eligibility criteria and their needs
  • Promotes the program through activities such as: distribution of program brochures and posters, local and ethno-cultural focused media advertising, and making presentations to community groups or organizations.
  • Develops appropriate resources that support the FCR program
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of community resources to provide program related information to participants
  • Maintains program records, paperwork relevant to the program, and statistical information on referrals and service delivery
  • Builds connections with potential employers

Qualifications/Experience Requirement:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline and at least 1 year of experience in a similar position (or suitable combination of education, training, experience and certification)
  • Experience in conducting financial needs assessment is an asset
  • Experience in case management or equivalent
  • Experience in employment / career development services
  • Experience working with internationally trained professionals is an asset
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) designation or training in progress is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of local labour market information

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • Strong ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and the public including potential employers and other service providers
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Willing to take initiative, results-oriented, flexible and dedicated to quality work
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media - Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, website etc.
