Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is seeking a Manager, Project Services to join our Mining & Minerals business group. Reporting to the Operations Director, this position is located at our Oakville office. This individual will manage the overall operations of the Project Services department, including staffing, budgeting, and performance monitoring. The Manager, Project Services will promote, supervise, and monitor inter-departmental relations between Business Units, projects, and other departments, ensuring the efficient performance of project services work. Anticipated start will be in January 2024.


The ideal candidate will have been responsible for Resource Planning and Analysis, conducting capacity and demand analysis of engineering and support resources for the portfolio of secured projects and prospects and ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet project staffing requirements and support business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
:
  • Overall management of the Project Services department, including: Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling, Estimating, Document Management, and Project Administration.
  • Recruit, interview, evaluate, and manage the Project Services staffing levels to ensure project staffing and office utilization targets are achieved; Assign qualified staff to projects in coordination with the project managers, as required by the project manpower plan
  • Conduct staff performance and personal development reviews; provide recommendations for promotion, salary levels, work assignment and external training programs
  • Oversee the development and training of the project services group to support projects in the areas of project set-up, project information management, scheduling, cost control, estimating, accounting, document control, trend management, forecasting and risk management
  • Provide input in the areas of execution plan, budget estimates, resourcing, and schedules for proposals for all project services departments
  • Monitors the performance of the department on each project including hours usage, progress and quality and takes corrective action where necessary to control work within budget and schedule
  • Ensures appropriate and consistent project delivery tools are deployed and maintained on all projects in the Oakville office.
  • Participates in office and project audits related to project services functions as directed by senior management
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Relevant technical diploma/university degree (Mining, Engineering, Construction, etc)
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in an EPC(M) environment; with at least 10 years in a managerial capacity, or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of mining industry experience will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated success and ability to compile, analyze, and present office-wide forecast staffing plans, overhead costing, and manage utilization.
  • Knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, and project reporting, document control, scheduling, estimating, procurement/contracts, construction management
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and similar systems;
  • Knowledge of Convero Project Management system is an asset
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
