The Manager, Procurement is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic sourcing, contracting, and procurement, globally, and as part of clinical trials conducted on behalf of Veristat’s sponsors. The Manager, Procurement will participate in the strategic identification of vendor partners, will manage the selection, negotiation, and processes related to set up and performance of vendor partners.

As a Procurement Manager You Will...
  • Develop system-level contract initiatives and forecast opportunities to drive organizational savings and efficiencies.
  • Work collaboratively with management and internal departments to develop and implement sourcing and contracting strategies that will minimize the organization’s total cost of supplies, services, and capital purchases while maintaining a customer-focused culture and meet the needs of diverse constituencies.
  • Responsible for streamlining and automating the purchasing process and coordinating activities.
  • Leverage the enterprise’s buying power in categories of spend that are common across all operations, employing supply chain purchasing methods and technologies, and implementing standardization and consistent procurement policies.
  • Ensure exceptional performance of vendors by defining & monitoring key performance indicators. Maintain close communication with Proposals and Contracts, Operations, and Finance to ensure expectations and activities are aligned.
  • Contribute to functional strategic initiatives and process improvement.
  • Actively seek new ways to work more efficiently to meet the needs of internal and external clients.
Responsibilities Include

In partnership with Business Development, Operational Leadership, and Proposals and Contracts, lead and manage vendor procurement activities for clinical trials on behalf of Veristat’s sponsors.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Compliance to ensure vendors are qualified according to SOPs prior to contract execution.
  • Liaise with Legal to establish appropriate Master Service Agreements with vendors.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Directors, Proposals and Contracts, and operational leadership regarding new Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) to identify vendors required for the proposal.
  • Ensure vendors provide proposals according to the RFP timelines and scope of work, providing final vendor proposals to Proposal and Contract team for incorporation in the full proposal to client. Negotiate discounts/rebates with vendors for proposals, as required.
  • Support contract execution for selected vendors, ongoing change order development, and execution activities in collaboration with Project Managers and Proposals and Contracts.
  • Solicit feedback from Project Managers and Operational Leadership on Veristat’s clinical trial strategic partners/vendors to ensure the overall operational execution and delivery of the services remain in compliance with client expectations, quality standards, and are on schedule and on budget.
  • Coordinate and facilitate governance meetings with strategic partners as necessary.
Experience & Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience in procurement and contracting, preferably in the clinical research industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Awareness of local country requirements is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project/program management, including scenario assessment, risk assessment and contingency planning.
  • Demonstrated excellent matrix leadership and communication skills, and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative; takes measured risks; thinks outside the box; challenges the status quo.
