Job Summary:

The Manager, Operations and Planning is responsible for overseeing the administrative management and operational activities within the College of Arts. The Manager plays a lead role in planning, supporting, and directing operations and services of the College of Arts as it relates to budget, enrollment, space and equipment needs, and staff. The Manager provides highly confidential support and assists in the coordination of resources to meet the needs of the College of Arts and to enhance the effectiveness of educational programs and services.

The incumbent plays a significant role in budgetary and strategic planning and is a key member of the College of Arts leadership team. The Manager, Operations and Planning works closely with Department Heads and School Directors, providing guidance and expertise related to complex matters of labour relations and Collective Agreement compliance, and provides input and support in the resolution of questions or challenges that arise. The Manager develops relationships and partnerships throughout the university and provides information and guidance on institutional policies and procedures to College of Arts administrators, faculty, and staff. The Manager supports delivery of College of Arts educational programs and activities to community and industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related field
  • Five (5) years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment, with evidence of progressive career development
  • Experience in financial management, human resource management and post-secondary curriculum administration
  • Proven ability to manage/reconcile budgets and analyze financial reports
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; self-directed, proactive, and discreet
  • Proven ability to work with minimal or no supervision, multi-task, and work to tight deadlines with conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic administrative practices in a post-secondary environment
  • Strong technical/computer skills (MS Windows and Apple/Mac platforms, and MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with UFV faculties, programs, policies, and procedures preferred
  • Experience liaising with external agencies/institutions/partners is an asset
