Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director, the HR Manager oversees the strategy and implementation of a strong and supportive HR business area. The HR Manager is accountable for a full range of Human Resources-related services to the staff at BGCCVI and provides leadership and guidance to management to improve the effectiveness of BGCCVI’s HR practices as a whole. The HR Manager leads by example, adopting the Agency’s Mission, Core Values and Code of Ethics to guide decision-making and professional behaviour.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Employee Relations:

  • Provide guidance to employees in the employee lifecycle process.
  • Provide ongoing support on HR related matters, policies and procedures ensuring the overall effectiveness of HR operations.
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide support alongside the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team
  • Manage all aspects of employee health and safety in alignment with WorkSafe BC

Recruitment, Onboarding and Retention:

  • Collaborate with management to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans, process, and implementation.
  • Support and advise Senior Leadership Team to maintain and enhance a client-centered Performance Management Process to support retention.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver a strong agency onboarding and offboarding process.

Training and Development:

  • Performs job evaluations to ensure training and development plans for staff are relevant and effective.
  • Provides mentorship and leadership to staff in executing training and development program.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain BGCCVI’s Human Resources Policies & Procedures.
  • Participate in the review and audit of HR work practices and systems.
  • Ensure Agency documentation adheres to all governing regulations and laws, including those of PIPEDA, PIPA, Social Services, Labour Standards, WorkSafe BC, Human Rights, and any other applicable government standards.
  • Support the Executive Director during the yearly contract renewal through our benefits broker.
  • Work with the ED to reach the current strategic plan goal to develop and implement a plan to engage more volunteers of all ages with the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Business Administration diploma/degree designated in Human Resources Management, or a combination of other education with equivalent experience. CHRP designation (or working towards) or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience working in a Human Resources management/senior position, recruitment and employee relations experience required.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe BC requirements

Annual Salary: $45,900-$52,000

Location: Nanaimo/Lantzville/Parksville/Ladysmith
