Logistics Engineer

The Logistics Engineer is responsible for providing Industrial Engineering support to Best Buy’s Canadian Distribution center in Langley. This support would include evaluation, analysis, recommendations and implementation pertaining to all distribution center processes and material handling changes for configuration, reverse logistics, and fulfillment operations. The job would include hands-on cross functional interface at all levels within the corporate offices and in various distribution centers.

As an Industrial Engineer you will…

  • Be responsible for analyzing space and capacity of facilities with current and forecasted.
  • Analyze facility layout to recommend increases in efficiency and quality.
  • Be responsible for assessing the techniques, staffing, and equipment utilized to determine production rates and capacities.
  • Work closely with HR, Learning & Development and DC leadership teams to build a sustainable certification program for DC employees.
  • Recommend changes to work methods, safety measures, and labor organization.
  • Develop labor standards by analyzing work samples, work flow, methods of production, and operator techniques, labor schedules based on forecasts and track performance against budget.
  • Maintain site-level performance dashboards to assess the effectiveness of processes and assist management and front-line leaders in highlighting opportunities for improvement
  • Be responsible for managing projects of various size related to facility layout and design
  • Lead team of analysts and/or engineers to build operational reports, manage key KPIs and develop SOPs and work measurement standards in the distribution center

The experience we need…

  • 3+ years Engineering experience in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution field
  • 3+ years Experience in fast paced, high volume environments including multi-site operating experience strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of applied Green belt or black belt six sigma methodologies
  • Advanced Excel and Visio experience
  • Beginner Power BI, Tableau, SQL

Bonus points…

  • Experience in Simulation, MOST/MODAPTS Certification
  • Green belt or black belt certification in six sigma methodologies
