Legal Assistant - Property

Drake International is proud to partner with our client who is a well-established, growing law firm located in Dartmouth, looking to add their next Legal Assistant - Propertyto join their dynamic team!

As a successful Legal Assistant - Property, you are a highly attentive, and motivated Legal Assistant who will be joining our property team to facilitate full-cycle real estate transactions and work related to purchase, sale, refinance, and new home construction.

What You Bring
  • Conducting client intake, conflict searches, and opening new client files;
  • Preparing documents for full-cycle real estate transactions, including for sales, purchases, and refinancing;
  • Completing final reports
  • Maintaining up to date client files (both paper and electronic);
  • Processing large volumes of documents and utilizing technology to store and organize files diligently;
  • Reviewing and prioritizing incoming mail, coordinating faxes, and drafting routine correspondence for lawyer review.
  • Booking client meetings and maintaining lawyer schedules and agendas.
  • Providing overall day-to-day support for lawyers; and,
  • Scanning documents for entry into Property Online.

Who You Are
  • Graduate of a Paralegal diploma program or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills with the ability to notice and fix grammatical, typographical, spelling, diction, and formatting errors.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to deal directly with clients and debtors.
  • A propensity for contributing to a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Proven ability to manage time and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven work environment.
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving, and making sound judgment calls; and,
  • Adept at using technology such as Outlook and the full Microsoft Office Suite, and a talent for learning new computer programs quickly.
