The Role

Representing Douglas College at the Langley & Aldergrove WorkBC Centres, the Lead Career Coach will deliver Intake and Case Management Services to help Clients achieve and maintain sustainable labour market attachments. They will coach and support the other career coaches to maintain exemplary customer service while ensuring that they meet or exceed the Centre’s key performance measures .

Responsibilities
  • Support the Centre Manager to ensure the Centres are delivering a quality client experience
  • Supervision of and support for all Career Coaches at the Centre to ensure performance measures and targets are met;
  • Review and implement the results of the Needs Determination to create, in collaboration with the Client, a realistic and achievable Action Plan;
  • Support and refer Clients to access all relevant resources
  • Assist clients through one to one coaching with resume writing, job search techniques, labour market information, career planning materials, assessment tools, workshops and other relevant resources;
  • Maintain regular contact with the Client to support, motivate, and monitor the Client’s progress;
  • Provide Job Sustainment Services, to any Client who achieves either Employment or secures Community Attachment;
  • Ensure that all required documentation is in place to support the start and completion of the agreed upon intervention (Client Milestones);
  • Ensure that appropriate tracking mechanisms are in place and followed to capture and celebrate Client’s sustained employment at 4, 24, and 52 weeks.
Resource Area Assistance

The Lead Career Coach will;
  • Ensure that they and the team provide a warm and welcoming environment when greeting clients and visitors;
  • Check for new applications on the On Line Employment System ( OES ) within 1 business day and then encourage Applicants to come into the Centre for Employment Supports (Needs Assessment);
  • Assist clients through one to one coaching with resume writing, job search techniques, career planning materials, assessment tools, workshops and other resources;
  • When assessed as appropriate, encourage the Client to complete or re-apply for Case Management Services using the Online Employment Services portal;
  • Ensure that regular and timely follow up is conducted with all self-serve Clients;
Additional Duties
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, strategic planning sessions and performance management reviews;
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • Post-Secondary degree or equivalent level of experience and knowledge in the field of employment services;
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner ( CCDP ) Certification an asset;
Experience
  • Providing customer service and resolving issues in person and virtual service delivery environment;
  • Supervising a team of employment professionals;
  • Interpreting and applying policy or legislation;
  • Conducting and interpreting client needs assessments;
  • Working with individuals with complex barriers and a wide range of cultural backgrounds;
  • Using on-line reporting and communication portals/databases; preference given to individuals with knowledge of existing Provincial Gov’t systems ( ICM , OES , etc.);
Also
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development;
  • Ability to exhibit respect for clients, client diversity, and community partners;
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-based work environment with shifting priorities and duties;
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing;
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops as well as deliver presentations to a variety of audiences is an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement WorkBC Policy;
  • Knowledge of local labour market and labour market trends;
  • Knowledge of Employment Program of BC and its mandate;
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check.
