Blau & Associates oversees the Food and Beverage operations at Parq Vancouver including the Honey Salt. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Bartender is primarily responsible for the preparation and service of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage items to guests in a restaurant, lounge, patio or outlet while providing training and support to the Bar Team Members. This position also acts as a food and beverage Server to any guests seated within the bar, lounge or patio. The Lead Bartender assists with the reservation process, greeting and seating of guests, and clearing and resetting of designated areas. This position is responsible for following both company and facility policies and procedures. The Bartender will promote the Parq Vancouver facility and act as a positive role model and representative of Blau & Associates ensuring “employer of choice” decisions. The Lead Bartender continually strives for 100% guest satisfaction.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Bartender is responsible for:

  • Working in collaboration with other Team Members and Departments to ensure the restaurant, lounge, patio or outlet operates in accordance with established operational procedures
  • Providing training and support to Bar Team Members ensuring the adherence to duties and service standards
  • The creation of new recipes and preparation of established alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages using standardized drink recipes and presentation standards
  • Ensuring inventory, ordering, service delivery, mise-en-place and par stock is maintained for all service related items.
  • Seating guests, taking/placing orders, preparing speciality items, serving food and beverage items, clearing, cleaning and resetting designated areas
  • Placing orders through designated POS systems, reviewing final checks and securing payment
  • Maintaining a composed and professional demeanor while providing exemplary guest service
  • Assisting with the training of new staff and be the point of reference for new hires
  • Being aware of menu items, daily promotions, menu and operational changes and communicating the information as applicable
  • Protecting the organization, guests and co-workers by adhering to applicable food, liquor safety and workplace standards, operational requirements and statutory compliance regulations


QUALIFICATIONS

The Lead Bartender must:

  • Have experience in a Lead Bartender role in a similar environment including a hotel, restaurant, catering or other fast paced high-volume establishment
  • Have valid Serving it Right and Foodsafe Level 2 certificates. Certificates in mixology would be considered an asset
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a GPEB license
  • Have be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Have an excellent command of both spoken and written English. Knowledge of a 2nd language would be considered an asset
  • Have a good understanding of beer, wine, liquor, non-alcoholic beverages, common drink recipes, basic food & beverage pairings or accompaniments, different cuisines and food preparation methods
  • Be able to upsell through detailed product knowledge and effectively handle all guest inquiries including food and beverage suggestions, dietary, food sensitivity or allergy requirements
  • Have solid problem solving, decision making, customer service, communication and sales skills
  • Accurately operate POS terminals, debit payment systems, Open Table and other computerized or electronic systems
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend and stoop repeatedly
  • Be able to frequently lift and carry up to 44 pounds
