Golder has a new opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Construction Services, Materials Engineering and Laboratory Group on a contract basis based in London. As a Laboratory Assistant you will work closely with other team members, as well as with Engineering Consultants and Field Technicians.

An Overview Of Your Role Will Include

• Carrying out laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete and other construction materials to various industry standards;
• Entering test data and producing standard test reports;
• Shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples;
• Cleaning, maintaining, repairing, and calibration of laboratory testing equipment;
• Assisting with ordering and restocking of laboratory and field supplies;
• General laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties as required;
• Proper care, handling, and storage of various chemical products used in laboratory testing;
• Interacting with staff in the Office including field technicians and technologists, administrative and professional staff, as well as with some clients.
  

You will have a background in:

• High School Diploma
• Technician or Technology diploma in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred;
• Ability to learn, comprehend, and to accurately and conscientiously perform standard test procedures in accordance with applicable standards;
• Appropriate level of ethical standards to maintain the reputation of the company and of the laboratory;
• Previous knowledge of the various ASTM, MTO and CSA test methods and protocols for soil, aggregate, asphaltic concrete and Portland cement concrete would be an asset;
• Ability to learn various calculations and reporting software;
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
