Adecco is currently hiring for a full-time Laboratory Technologist, to work a long-term contract at a well-established integrated oil and natural gas company, in Christina Lake, AB. In this role, you will be managing administrative laboratory duties as well as daily laboratory testing, to consistently produce reliable results. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support Coordinator, Lab, with lab operation, safety, environmental systems and issues, ISO/IEC 17025 and LIMS implementation and maintenance
• Support third-party lab data management and invoice coding
• Support stakeholders on projects, R&D and operations optimization
• Compile weekly SLT updates, KPI and data reports and submit them to Sr. Lab Technologist for approval
• Act as approver and distributor of all reports if the Lab Coordinator is off-site
• Act as report approver when necessary
• Support the Lab Coordinator on projects and operation optimization
• Act as a liaison for third-party labs with knowledge of their capabilities and ability to determine the right test for the right result considering sample matrix
• Keep inventory up-to-date and order new supplies through Maximo and deal with the Procurement group on issues related to ordering supplies
• Write, review and revise Standard Operating Procedures
• Train and sign off all lab technicians on laboratory processes and procedures
• Carry out routine and non-routine lab testing and data entry, when necessary
• Maintain both Operations satellite labs as well as Main Lab by ensuring instruments are calibrated and working correctly and chemical inventory is stocked, when necessary
• Ensure daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control is performed, documented and charted for all lab instruments and/or equipment
• Troubleshoot instrument/technical issues along with the resulting documentation
• Identify and report issues that impact safety, environment, and/or production
• Maintains records of reference standards and materials used, as well as instrument and/or product certificates
• Handle the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) using the Thermo Sample Manager program backup super user
• Act as a backup for the Lab Coordinators and the Lab Technicians, when required
  

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A university science degree (BSc) or technical diploma in Chemical Technology is needed
• 6-8 years of laboratory experience is a must
• ISO/IEC 17025:2005 knowledge is a must
• Proven ability to troubleshoot instrument and procedure problems is required
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable company-prescribed software and programs
• Should have a thorough understanding of testing procedures and instruments
• Would be an asset to have SAGD experience, petroleum laboratory experience and water testing experience
• Must be legally eligible to reside and work in Canada
