Your Challenge

EXP’s Burnaby office is currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineerto join their team. Reporting to the Geotechnical Discipline Manager, the successful candidate will be joining a well-established and diverse engineering group in Western Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

Your Responsibilities

Working closely with Project Engineers/Managers, field teams and Discipline Manager to conduct construction observations in both the field and laboratory for projects mainly in and around, but not limited to the Greater Vancouver area. For each project, the successful candidate could be involved in:

  • Conduct and coordinate geotechnical engineering investigations and reporting
  • Leads and coordinates all efforts to execute assigned projects
  • Analyzes geotechnical data to prepare results for reports
  • Prepares initial drafts of geotechnical reports
  • Carry out engineering analysis under P.Eng. supervision
  • Attend staff and project meetings when requested
  • Interaction with clients and contractors to provide excellent service and a quick response to their needs

The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geological/geotechnical engineering
  • Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering, an asset
  • 2 to 5 years of pertinent experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with proven ability to work independently or as a member of project teams
  • Excellent organizing, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics applications such as MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD
  • Proficient problem-solving skills
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to job sites
