Geotab is actively seeking a IT Systems Administrator with a background in IT and systems security and keep current with all things IT. In this role, you will manage and administer key projects and implementations championed by the IT and Security teams. What You’ll Do

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the implementation, installation and monitoring of Geotab’s information systems.This position will support efforts to maintain the overall security of Geotab’s IT environment, by keeping all servers, application services, and workstations up-to-date. This person will lead and ensure in-depth analysis of problems and initiate corrective actions and implementation of preventative measures. Also this position will provide advice and recommendations to management regarding technology directions, decisions, security policy, and road map.

Duties And Tasks/Essential Functions
  • Maintain internal server and services requirements using best practices, including hardware, network, and virtualization
  • Maintain overall security of the Geotab network (e.g. virus, network security) for all servers, endpoints, and workstations
  • Enable resilience and high availability for numerous platforms, from bleeding-edge cloud applications to legacy systems that were lifted and shifted to cloud services
  • Provide level 3 support for production and non-production environments in our application services portfolio (Duo, ReDash, Vault, Gitlab, Splunk, Various SaaS Solutions, etc.)
  • Design, develop and deliver scalable and automated services architecture
  • Design, develop and roll out automation for end-user self-service
  • Plan, implement, support and improve cloud platform and external cloud environment with focus on enhancing the reliability, performance, and availability of the cloud infrastructure
  • Write standard operating procedures for extended teams as well as end-user facing self-service support documents
  • Write and maintain automation scripts and leverage configuration management to increase system efficiency and speed the deployment to cloud systems
  • Performance tuning and ensure high availability of infrastructure
  • Design, build, migrate and maintain virtualized environments
Experience/Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in IT Systems and with Cloud Platforms (platform components, assembling applications, and run-time architecture)
  • Strong understanding of secrets management using HashiCorp Vault
  • Strong knowledge of containers as a practitioner
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
  • Knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML, LDAPS, AD)
  • Strong programming/scripting knowledge - Powershell, Python, Bash, etc
  • Experience managing and supporting Linux-based environments
  • Experience managing and configuring Active Directory/Group Policy
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud) deployment of automation tools, programming languages, and communication protocols
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an Ability to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
