Please note that this position is at the Kearl Lake site located 2 hours north east of Fort McMurray, AB. We offer fly in/fly out of Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB.

Schedule - 14 x 14 with 12 hour shifts

Type: Full Time/Permanent with Full Benefits including RSP Matching

This is a junior position with responsibilities for both the Kearl and CNUL sites coordination of all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems.

HSE Duties:

  • Assists with incident management for all safety incidents, including internal and client communication
  • Promote positive Employee relations to strengthen Employee and Organizational commitment.
  • Reports any Health, Safety or Environmental incidents, accidents or concerns to the Site Supervisor /Operations Manager and client safety representative(s)
  • Assists Internal HSE Audit processes.
  • Assists to manage document flow of all HSE and Administrative systems and processes, which include, Field Level Hazard Assessments, Job Safety Analyses, Loss Prevention Observations, Hazard Identifications, Near Misses, Working Alone, Incident Reporting, and Safety Force Reporting.
  • Assists with the completion (with supervisors) all on-site Incident Investigations, and updates HSE Incident Database (CRYSTAL).
  • Hazard assessments as well as Job Safety Analysis.
  • Attend Health and Safety courses and seminars to keep current with acceptable Health and Safety and environmental practices.

Quality Duties:

·To assist, understand, implement and coordinate the requirements of SGS Quality Management System (ISO 9001) in all activities or locations relevant to the post.

·Assists in the completion (with supervisors, site personnel and HSE-Quality Specialist) root cause analysis and corrective actions that may arise from internal quality issues, client complaints and needed improvements by use of SGS SharePoint’s BRM CAPA (Business Risk Management Corrective and Preventive action system).

· Assists in the implementation and coordination of the development of sustainable quality procedures for all aspect of service delivery and operations

In General:

  • Promoting and improving Health and Safety with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Assist in the updating and maintenance of the Training Matrix to ensure compliance, Crystal data entry, SGS Campus, OI Reporting, BRM CAPA system.
  • Problem solving – Able to apply practical reasoning to address HSE and Quality issues, Legislation and maintain or exceed Site Standards and Contractual obligations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years Health and Safety experience in a medium or large-size field environment.
  • Health and Safety Administrative Certification (HSA) is required.
  • Previous Health and Safety training experience is a strong asset.
  • Previous Quality Management training experience is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience with Lean Principles (5S, Kaizen, 6 sigma) is a strong asset.
  • Must have a proactive Health and Safety attitude.
  • Must have a continuous improvement attitude and willingness for change.
  • Previous First Aid training is a strong asset.
  • Familiar with the Health, Safety and Environment national/provincial requirements
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems
  • Superior organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
  • A solid understanding of MS Project Management and Oracle applications would also be an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
