HACCP / Quality Systems Coordinator

As a HACCP/ Quality Systems Coordinator, you will provide site leadership in the development and maintenance of food safety and quality programs for the Concord site and support for the Atwood Site, while coordinating and prioritizing quality department activities, in accordance with HACCP/SQF programs and the achievement of company goals.

About the role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will:

  • Act as a Food Safety program owner, providing input and recommendations to the operations team on quality and food safety issues
  • Act as lead to ensure the HACCP system (written pre-requisite and plans) is maintained and improved in accordance with the program requirements
  • As an SQF practitioner, lead and ensure the implementation and maintenance of the SQF system
  • Review HACCP systems, update critical control points and provide technical support to the operational and quality departments
  • Perform annual review and assessment of HACCP plans and update accordingly
  • Lead on-site HACCP team and conduct monthly meetings outlining the corrective action and updates required
  • Take a leadership role in the preparation and execution of CFIA / FSEP and facilitate third party audits and develop corrective action plans based on findings
  • Perform mock recalls and report findings to all stakeholders
  • Participate in HACCP and GMP audits, record findings, and develop a summary log of findings with corrective actions
  • Support and act as a back up as required to other QA Technicians or the Laboratory Technician to complete quality related tasks
  • Ensure that all implemented SOPs are followed as per internal and external legislation
  • Provide training for plant personnel as it relates to HACCP, SQF, GMP and other FSEP requirements as required
  • Assist in the development, revision and training of quality, supervisory and operational personnel to ensure adherence to HACCP Regulations, SOPs and other related programs by monitoring/ verifying/validating and updating accordingly
  • Travel, as required, between the Ontario sites to support audit preparation and execution, and overall program effectiveness
  • Take the lead as the main quality interface to support the plant and operation groups in case of absence of the Quality Manager

Who are you?

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in a quality role within the dairy industry or food related manufacturing environment, including a minimum of one years’ experience working in a HACCP/Quality Systems capacity. You will also have previous experience working with SQF, and the CFIA and previous training in HACCP and SQF. Your work experience will include experience with employee training as well as with performing internal audits.

You will have a Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Dairy technology, Science, or equivalent; previous education in Microbiology or Chemistry preferred.

You are a detail oriented individual, with a strong continuous improvement focus. You have the ability to lead CFIA and SQF audits and maintain a high level of credibility as a food safety resource. Your skillset will include the ability to understand and communicate the details of Food Safety regulations and standards; strong initiative and timely execution of tasks; the ability to ensure customer satisfaction is not compromised.

You will have a strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills and the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders. You will have strong judgement and decision-making skills to ensure that we minimize quality concerns from entering the market.

With a strict adhere to Quality, HACCP, GMP and other related standards and procedures, you will be able to lead and coordinate work effectively under tight time constraints. You will also have intermediate skills with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and SAP experience would be considered an asset.
