JOB TITLE: Safety/HACCP/Operations Coordinator (Term position, approximately 16 months)

DEPARTMENT: Grand Falls Warehouse

JOB GRADE: Grade 6

GRADE RANGE: $20.95 per hour

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the administration of the Health and Safety Program; the HACCP program and Operational reporting in the Grand Falls Cold Storage. The Coordinator is responsible to administer our programs and reporting so the management team has the necessary tools to meet Safety and operational targets while in compliance with food safety requirement. The successful candidate will serve as a change agent and facilitator of continuous improvement in safety and HACCP.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but Are Not Limited To)

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Safety rules, laws and/or regulations from federal, provincial, municipal and company bodies
• Improve and develop Key Elements of Safety (KES) inspection program of facilities and equipment that will maximize the effectiveness of our programs.
• Manage programs including but limited to: STEP, Safety Tickets, Near Miss, Truck to Truck and Shock Watch in a way that will assist in behavior change.
• Conduct safety audits (including rack inspections) and support root cause corrective action closure of audit findings within required deadlines
• Analyzes incident and injury trends to identify training deficiencies, behavioral issues, or other opportunities for operations and work flow improvements
• Assist Supervisors in the investigations of workplace incidents and with developing recommended action plans to prevent recurrence
• Facilitate a safe work environment with strengths in Collaboration, Driving engagement and Ensuring Accountability as core competencies.
• Confirm safety training and certification for external contractors. Conduct work site audits for external contractors.
• Maintain HACCP program to ensure compliance with all company, regulatory and/or customer food safety requirements; including but not limited to, procedures are being followed; checks and documentation are being completed; and annual review is being conducted
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports to track performance in operations and safety
• Develop and deliver training to management and employees on Food Safety, Health and Safety
• Share best practices with the factory and across the whole organization
• Provide orientation training to new hires
• Develop innovative solutions to safety and training
• Manage multiple priorities against deadline
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering is preferred
• 1-3 years experience in Supply Chain, warehousing or manufacturing
• Experience developing and facilitating training programs and protocol
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience with Safety or HACCP program management is an asset
• Professional certification in safety or Supply Chain is considered an asset
• Ability to work without direct supervision
  

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Time will be split between an office environment and the cold temperature environment of the cold storage warehouse facility.
• May receive calls outside normal working hour in the event of accident or serious injury
