We are seeking a Grocery & Key Account Managerto join our Sales Team in Western Canada.

Reporting to the Senior Key Account Manager, this role is accountable for the development and execution of sales plans for Alberta and Western Canada Key Accounts, development and execution of a winning strategy positioning APL as the "customers" preferred vendor of choice, growing APLS’s value proposition. In addition, this role is responsible for developing best in class partnerships with key customers (national Grocery and Liquor Primary Retail Chains) and with APL local and national cross functional teams executing and delivering sustainable growth.

We Are Looking For a Teammate With
  • University Degree in Business, Marketing or other related field combined with 5+ years of demonstrated progressively increasing roles of responsibility within the sales function or CPG environment
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for strategic selling and basic knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact
  • Function as a change agent by demonstrating past successes driving and managing change within Grocery/Retail sector
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management
  • Exemplary leadership & customer service skills including communication, product knowledge, problem solving, and attention to detail
  • Maintenance of privileged and confidential information relating to APL sales & revenue growth opportunities.
  • Managing time & prioritizing activities
  • Flexible outside regular business hours
  • Occasional travel as required
This Teammate Will Be Accountable For
  • Develop and execute winning strategies positioning APL as the preferred vendor of choice with national Grocery/Retail Accounts
  • Identify and implement required internal & external processes to drive superior execution
  • Leverage existing capabilities/portfolios to create a sustainable competitive advantage meeting target customers’ unmet needs
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and communicate the unique value proposition of APL products to the different customer segments
  • Communicate with support teams including experts from Finance, Marketing, Demand Planning, Operations, Customer support, and other functions to define and implement processes to drive new business growth, strategic account planning; identifying and understanding customer changes and needs
  • Deliver on customer promises and execute flawlessly to continuously meet their unique needs
  • Act as change agent across the platform demonstrate success by behaving as one company vs. a collection of businesses
  • Develop annual business plans and strategies that: support APL business priorities; drive revenue and margin; and exceed APL plans for bottom line growth
  • Assess geographical markets to identify and deploy market specific growth priorities
  • Accountable for business development for grocery growth/expansion align internal goals & lead customer joint business planning maximizing customer engagement
  • Develop best in class relationships with all key members of grocery/retail chains
  • Partner with customers and internal cross functional teams for effective product assortment, merchandising and promotional recommendations
  • Responsible for ongoing plan optimization scoping business opportunities as well as ensure flawless execution with the customer/ partners
  • Manage and ensure volume, distribution, promotional and overall APL merchandising standards are effectively executed by APL Retail Territory Managers
  • Influence Grocery Accounts leveraging data and insights to develop strategies and large-scale programs and initiatives establishing APL as "best in class" in Grocery
  • Manage the development, execution and post analysis of retail chain specific marketing programs for Grocery markets
  • Manage a promotional budget of over $300,000 and collaborate with senior management on a +5 million promotional budget for assigned chains
  • Manage internal communication needs including customer procurement function, internal forecasting function
  • Research, develop, present, monitor and measure/communicate key performance indicators against business plans
  • Follows safe work procedures and practices and reports all unsafe working conditions/hazards to their reporting Manager
