About Us



The Department of Community and Social Services leads income, employment, disabilities and community-based support, family violence prevention, and family & community support services

The Strategic Services Division helps define and support the strategic direction of the department. It is responsible for effective strategic planning, coordinated policy development, informed decision making, intergovernmental relations, and overall improvement of services provided to Albertans. Strategic Services manages the ministry’s strategic policy development and policy integration, governance and appeals, intergovernmental relations, research and analysis, quality assurance, continuous improvement, training, and evaluation of services provided to Albertans. We also support analytics and data integration for the ministry.

The Strategic Policy Branch provides strategic leadership and support to the Department for strategic, program, and operational levels of policy across all policy domains and program areas. The Branch is responsible for broad social policy review, analysis, and advice considering ministry, cross-ministry, and cross-government context for policy framing. It is also responsible for identifying potential policy impacts, supporting policy alignment and integration, strategic direction setting, and strategic stakeholder engagement. The lead for intergovernmental relations is also in this Branch, representing Ministry priorities, interests, and commitments on inter-jurisdictional social service issues.

The Priorities Coordination, Governance, and Planning Unit tracks and coordinates planning around key ministry items; provides governance and policy advice and expertise to agencies; leads the business plan, annual report, operational plan, and enterprise risk management for the Ministry.

Role


As the Graphic Design and Reporting Analyst, you will report to the Manager, Priority Coordination and Corporate Planning, and will be responsible for providing knowledge translation through visual and information design to support the ministry’s strategic planning and reporting. While situated in the Priority Coordination, Governance, and Planning (PCGP) Unit, you will be a resource for the ministry as a whole.

Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing advanced visual communication design thinking, methodologies, and tools to communicate a variety of information products and reports for internal and public consumption
  • Collaborating and consulting with internal clients to plan and design visual products to support the ministry’s business.
  • Providing advice and leading design and layout for ministry documents and communication materials.
  • Performing editor/writer functions in order to support documents and materials

You will be a highly organized individual with good multi-tasking skills, who is capable of working in collaboration with extended team members and independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications


Two-year Diploma in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, Information Design, Digital Media, or related field. No work-related experience is required, but preference will be given to applicants who have worked in a similar role. Preference will also be given to candidates who have experience working with Illustrator, PhotoShop, and/or InDesign. Equivalencies of directly related education or experience will be considered.

Salary


$2,106.93 to $2,738.86 bi-weekly: ($54.990 to $71.484/year)

Hours of work are 36.25 hours weekly.
