Job Description

The General Accountant will drive best practices in Accounting, Financial Reporting and Compliance. The Financial Accountant will provide a variety of accounting functions with precision and timeliness. The Financial Accountant will prepare monthly financial statements, analysis and assist in the interim and annual financial audits.

General Accountant Responsibilities

• Performing a variety of financial tasks from start to finish—entry, reporting/reconciliation and financial analysis
• Performing monthly account reconciliations and maintain general ledgers
• Reconcile bank accounts daily
• Monitor and reconcile cash activity for all sites
• Assist in preparation of timely and accurate financial statements.
• Familiar with full cycle accounting
• Preparing and entering journal entries and adjusting entries
• Maintaining and ensuring the data integrity of various management reports
• Recommending enhancements to existing processes
• Addressing day-to-day accounting related queries or issues
• Other ad hoc duties as required
  

Qualifications

• Accounting Degree or Diploma and 2+ years of applicable experience
• Experience in performing account reconciliations and analysis
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
• Excellent Excel skills are critical
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy are required as data entry is a substantial part of this job
• Experience working in a project based working environment considered an asset
• Willingness to support accounting team at all levels from data entry to full cycle accounting
