Position: Fund Development and Communications Coordinator

Location: Okotoks, AB


The Sheep River Health Trust is a vibrant non-profit in the Foothills region, supporting Health and Wellness initiatives in the surrounding community. The Fund Development & Communications Coordinator reports to the Execute Director and plays a pivotal role in Fundraising and Communications activities of the Trust.


Strategic Fundraising and Marketing Planning:

  • Under the guidance of the Executive Director and Fund Development Committee, create and implement a strategic fundraising and marketing plan, setting out short term and long goals, objectives and timelines which must meet budget requirements to increase revenues in support of the strategic direction of the Trust.
  • Implement fund development plan and consider new fund raising initiatives including but not limited to the implementation of newsletters, expansion of social media activity, 3rd party events, telemarketing, direct mail, individual and planned giving and special events.
  • Analyze and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being met.
  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary.

Organize the Fund Development Activities

  • Identify and develop relationships with corporations, community and individual prospects that will in turn lead to sponsorships and donations.
  • Co-ordinate and oversee existing events from conception to completion. This will involve decision making input, managing event processes, coordinating meetings, recruiting volunteers, preparing and monitoring budgets and ensuring appropriate donor recognition is in place.
  • Participate in planning new events from conception to completion, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund raising initiatives are executed in a timely manner.
  • Update and maintain the Giftworks database of donors, including tax receipting, and donor management within the database records.

Communications and Brand Promotion:

  • In coordination with the Communications Committee, develop a comprehensive communications plan to promote the Trust to surrounding community and donors.
  • Draft the design of fund raising marketing materials including newsletters, sponsorship packages, invitations, thank you letters and cards.
  • Build new relationships in the region that Trust serves.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging social media content daily
  • Developing digital content that reflects our vision values and strategy. Curating authentic content that is professional, best-practice and consistent in execution
