The Fuel Systems Engineering Specialist within the Dash8 Q100/200/300/400 aircraft program is responsible for supporting all technical fuel system activities within the Toronto based De Havilland Engineering Mechanical Systems team. Tasks include technically leading sustaining and new fuel system design development, production support, in field aircraft modification and service difficulty support. You will be capable of working within a dynamic team, including all aircraft system engineering disciplines, project and program team members and various fuel system component suppliers.

In your role, you will:

  • Prepare and define Technical Requirement Documents and Engineering Technical Assessments.
  • Evaluate vendor technical proposals and internal Program Change Requests.
  • Prepare Design Change Proposals.
  • Review and approve vendor requirement specifications, design documentation including engineering drawings, modification summary packages and vendor equipment qualification reports.
  • Support aircraft test programs including writing Test Definition Sheets, aircraft equipment integration, aircraft test witnessing and subsequent test report development and review.
  • Prepare technical reports to show compliance to the applicable certification requirements. Ensure aircraft fuel system airworthiness is maintained per required regulations.
  • Technically manage fuel system supply chain relationships by supporting technical meetings and writing / receiving Engineering Coordination Memos.
  • Support aircraft production including fuel system problem solving and snag resolution.
  • Support in service aircraft by creating and reviewing engineering modification packages based on customer or regulatory change requests. Support Service Bulletin development. Support in service aircraft fleet investigation by addressing in Service Difficultly Reports.


Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

  • You have a Bachelor or Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Be a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario or be eligible.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant Fuel Systems Engineering experience.
  • You are knowledge of aviation fuels including types and grades, fuel additives, fuel properties and aircraft fueling procedures.
  • You have extensive working experience with system specification, design, test, certification and operation including aircraft fuel control, indication, tank, tubing, delivery, transfer, fueling/defueling and venting.
  • You are knowledgeable with civil airworthiness FAR Part 25 fuel system and equipment regulations and have a working understanding of industry advisory material including SFAR 88 and APR documents for applicable TCCA, EASA and FAA fuel system certification requirements.
  • You are familiar with and preferably have a working relationship with TCCA, EASA or FAA. Eligible for DAD / DAR status preferred.
  • You have strong system technical integration skills.
  • You have superior organizational, communication and planning skills, you are able to set priorities in order to achieve important milestones. Fluent in English a must.
  • You have strong customer orientation, perseverance and can work effectivity within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft and its engineering and business processes considered a strong asset.
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office software tools.
  • The position may require travel to flight test, vendor or operator sites.
