As the Financial Accountant your primary responsibility will be to supply the operations management team with pertinent financial and statistical analyses. As an integral part of the Mill’s management team, you will be entrusted with the preparation and delivery of comprehensive operational, financial, and management accounting reports. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in covering weekly cost reporting, KPI reporting, and contributing to the preparation of the annual business plan and forecasting. This is a developmental role, working towards backing up and supporting the Divisional Accountant. This role can be based on either our Acheson, AB, or Whitecourt, AB office.

A day in the life of the Financial Accountant includes:

  • Prepare financial statements and reports for review.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual business plan, monthly/quarterly/yearly forecasting, weekly cost report, and capital processes.
  • Providing operational and financial analysis for the manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and IFRS-based GAAP.
  • General ledger account reconciliations.
  • Coverage for the Divisional Accountants as required
  • This role is supporting our Alberta operations and may require occasional travel.

  • Exceptional analytical abilities coupled with a keen business acumen.
  • Advanced personal computer skills (MS Office).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
