The Coffee Mine Project ("Coffee") is a proposed hard-rock gold mine. Coffee will be a premier, high-grade, open pit heap leach gold mine project, built to world class standards, located in Canada’s Yukon Territory. We see ourselves in a long-term relationship with our First Nation Partners and the Yukon Territory. Purpose

Contract Exploration Geologist / Exploration Geologist-in-Training - Coffee Project

The exploration geologist-in-training will contribute to the ongoing development of the Project’s ‘geological and mineral system model’, with the aim to improve upon exploration targeting and resource development at Coffee. This role requires high level of safety consciousness and environmental awareness by following all government and corporate regulations and policies. This position is seasonal and is expected to run from March through to December but could be extended dependent on operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Logging of geological and spatial drilling data
  • Supervision of drilling & other contractors to ensure a safe production workplace
  • Conduct mapping and surface geochemical sampling programs, including regolith and outcrop mapping, and rock chip, soil and stream sediment sampling
  • Direct contractors during field survey programs
  • Prepare sample submission to assay laboratories; track and receive assay results
  • Data entry of geological logs and spatial data regarding quality control; and validation and quality control of all exploration data to ensure a robust exploration database
  • Extraction, manipulation and plotting of data on plans and sections using exploration and mining software to visualize and present exploration results
  • Contribute to weekly deliverables and interpretation of geological, assay and geophysical data

Training & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in exploration preferred
  • Registration as a Geoscientist in Training or eligibility for such registration
  • Prior work experience at a remote mining/exploration operation highly regarded
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office required
  • Skills in Leapfrog and ArcGIS would be assets
  • Demonstrated excellent work ethic, communication & organizational skills

Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all conditions
  • Able to work in camp setting on a rotational basis
  • Able to work day shift or night shifts
  • Consent to pre-employment, drug & alcohol screening
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
  • Physically able to work in steep rough terrain, communicate safely and efficiently via radio or phone, lift and carry up to 45 pounds of equipment and/or samples, able to load and unload core boxes onto logging tables

Working Conditions

This position is a field-based in Yukon Territory, Canada. During the field season this will be a fly-in/fly-out position based at the Coffee Project site; the rotational schedule will be two weeks in/two weeks out. Outside of the field season (depending on the project’s needs) work will be based in Newmont’s office in Whitehorse. Remote work while not on site will also be accepted
