Role

The Evaluation Officer acts as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integrity of the documents and information received and entered on drivers’ records.


This position is responsible for the analysis and quality control of the Alberta impaired driving sanctions and seizures relative to the Traffic Safety Act and policy; in particular, the Alberta Administrative License Suspension (AALS), Alberta Zero Alcohol Tolerance (AZAT) Suspension and Immediate Roadside (IRS) Sanctions and vehicle seizure documents. This position is also responsible for the analysis of tracking of Law Enforcement trends pertaining to AALS, AZAT and IRS suspensions. They will also be acting as a liaison with Law Enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that they understand the requirements applicable to the Traffic Safety Act and related regulations to how they complete, serve and post roadside suspension documents.


The Evaluation Officer is expected to determine when assistance is needed in unique situations and access internal resources such as the Team Lead or external resources such as Law Enforcement agencies for clarity. They will authorize and validate impaired driving sanctions and seizures to determine if the document has met requirements, which has a direct impact on driving records.


This position requires extensive knowledge of the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation, Demerit Point Program and Service of Document Regulation, Operator Licensing and Vehicle Control Regulation, Vehicle Seizure and Removal Regulation of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA), as well as knowledge of Motor Vehicles Systems (MOVES) and Justice On-Line Information Network (JOIN).

Qualifications

Required:
  • Post-secondary certificate in a related field or combined with 2 years of directly related experience
  • Clear criminal record check required

Desired:
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a thorough knowledge of MOVES and JOIN systems as they apply to Alberta drivers
  • Thorough knowledge of the Traffic Safety Act and ability to apply it to Roadside Sanctions for impaired drivers
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office
  • Well-developed analytical and research skills
  • Detail oriented, high degree of problem solving and creativity

Salary

$1,861.71 – $2,279.37 bi-weekly ($48,590.00 to $59,491.00 annually)
