As a member of the McCain North American Agriculture Leadership team, the Director Potato Agriculture Operations contributes to the achievement of volume, profit, sustainability and growth objectives through strategic sourcing and supply of raw potatoes that optimize French fry factory performance, customer quality and demand while ensuring a safe working environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Through the use of internal and external information and expertise, sources and delivers the right quality and cost of raw potatoes to four french fry factories that meet the annual pack plan and production schedules to optimize performance at the production facilities while ensuring supply using Good Agricultural Practices by contract growers and first time quality.
  • Seeks and utilizes value added insights and develops positive relationships within the potato industry and contract growers that ensures continuity of supply and achievement of businesses’ short and long-term objectives. Enhance the McCain brand and reputation through active partnership with key grower partners, assess performance and recommend enhancements to maximize return.
  • Leads and/or contributes to multiple projects involving cross-functional teams related to digital transformation that impacts the entire supply chain from field to fork, cost saving initiatives, yield improvement, new variety and regenerative agriculture practice adoption.
  • Leads annual contract negotiation strategy development through understanding cost of production relative to competing rotation crops and executing the annual crop contract price and terms.
  • Works with internal partners, to contribute to the businesses’ budget management process through analyzing, reporting and reconciliation. Identify and execute against sustainable cost savings initiatives.
  • Drives the Talent agenda for their assigned region by coaching, providing talent development opportunities, and succession planning while creating a culture of safety, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Key Qualification & Experiences
  • Undergraduate Degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain or Operations with an emphasis on business and technology adoption; MBA is a strong plus
  • 6-8 years of Agriculture or Supply Chain management experience with managing a diverse team
  • Demonstrated negotiation and strategic relationship management experience.
  • Proven resiliency and collaboration in the face of challenging circumstances
  • Displays accountability with a focus on delivering results aligned with strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Experienced in analyzing data/information to communicate recommendations which positively influence business direction and results
  • Working knowledge of digital technology tools
  • Must be able to travel 30-35%
  • Must be able to work outdoors and physically handle walking, climbing in a wide range of conditions and climates.
