We are currently searching for a Director of Sales and Marketing in our Edmonton office. This is a management level position responsible for maximizing market share, growing revenues, and enhancing positive awareness of Nunastar’s Hotel and Residential/Commercial Real Estate.

Specific Accountabilities:
Sales Functions
  • Manage the development of a strategic account plan for the demand generators in the various markets
  • Create a solid business sales pipeline within the identified market segments
  • Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services, while building a relationship and loyalty
  • Implement a seamless turnover from sales to operations, then back to sales, while consistently delivering a high level of service
  • Participate in industry and consumer trade shows, conferences, and FAM trips
  • Perform prospecting activities for group, transient, convention, and events business through cold calling, site visits, trade shows, business and industry events
Marketing Functions
  • Develop innovative marketing initiatives and deployment strategies to continue to grow profitable market share
  • Manage and enforce the Hotel, Astro Hill, and Nunastar brand standards
  • Create marketing and promotional materials to promote marketing goals and objectives
Strategic Planning and Market Intelligence
  • Develop and implement annual sales and marketing plans for the hotels and residential/commercial leasing
  • Provide customer intelligence in evaluating the market and economic trends that may lead to changes in sales strategy
Collaboration and Building Successful Relationships
  • Participate in weekly management team meetings, weighing in on critical issues by bringing a marketing point of view
  • Regularly work with the Hotel General Managers and their Heads of Departments, asking marketing questions on new initiatives, running workshops, and training staff on how to strategically market their products
  • Develop strong relationships with local organizations to further increase brand/product awareness
  • Develop strong community and public relations by maintaining property participation in local, regional, and national trade shows and client events
Social Media
  • Plan, implement, and monitor the company’s Social Media strategy to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase sales
  • Manage the Facebook and Instagram platforms alongside external social media contractors
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in sales and marketing, with at least 4 years at the strategic level, preferably in either the hospitality or property management industry
  • University degree in Marketing, Business Administration and/or in Hotel Management (preferred)
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding annual sales targets
  • Experience with the development of strategic plans
  • Effective computer skills and experienced in MS Office, property management systems, analytics, and related sales and marketing software applications
  • Northern experience is an asset
  • Commercial and residential real estate leasing experience is an asset
Working Conditions:
Position is based in the Edmonton office, but travel to Yellowknife, Iqaluit, and other destinations will be required approximately 10% of the time
