Director of Sales & Marketing

This role is responsible for developing and implementing total sales and marketing strategies, while effectively cross promoting the adjacent Staybridge Suites Oakville-Burlington & Oakville Conference Centre.

In this important role, you will lead day-to-day sales activities for yourself and a second sales associate by planning and executing successful relaunch strategies and goals for the newly transformed Holiday Inn & Suites Oakville @ Bronte. By demonstrating a “lead by example” attitude and management style, and a passion to win, you will lead the effort to capture new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implement innovative sales strategies to drive hotel performance from group, business transient, and leisure segments. You’ll create and implement a hotel-level tactical sales plan; analyze current/future market potential and sales trends in order to increase revenue and market share. The Director of Sales & Marketing is also responsible to develop and maintain strong relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies, and attend out-of-town brand conferences and trade shows to capture new business and increase sales. Additional requirements include a passion to respond quickly and effectively to inquiries for group guestroom blocks, business travel RFP’s and self-confined meeting or catering requests. Your participation in weekly IHG-delivered revenue management meetings will help ensure that revenue is maximized through expert rate and inventory management practices. With the GM, you will also play a key role to develop a Sales & Marketing Plan, Budget and month-end reporting, while fully aligning with IHG’s sales & marketing teams to maximize brand benefits and relationships. You’ll also take the lead to create and maintain highly compelling on-and-off-line images, packages and content, delivered through the hotels’ website, various e-Channels, display ads, sponsored partnerships, and sales collateral materials.

Qualifications

Heightened preference will be given to candidates with previous IHG sales leadership & systems experience (Opera PMS and Concerto). Requirements include a High School Diploma (University degree in related field preferred), 5 years of experience in a Hotel Sales leadership position with direct reports, excellent telephone skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks with strict deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic work environment and high proficiency in MSWord, MS Excel & MS Outlook. Essential elements of success also include strong organizational skills, a flare for writing compelling, accurate content and savvy online & social media skills. You must be able to travel to attend workshops, trade shows, brand meetings, etc. You may be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
