We are looking for a Director, Management Consulting - Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to build and lead the M&A team for RSM Canada! You will sell, lead and manage client delivery projects related to the integration and separation activities to support clients in the business transaction lifecycle on both buy and sell sides.



Responsibilities

  • Sell and lead strategy workshops for clients and private equity and strategic corporate buyers to validate deal thesis, investment objectives, and hold time objectives so that activities support client goals
  • With the correct approach, staffing, and by engaging subject matter experts/professionals to meet specialist requirements, sell and structure engagements for pre-close planning, post-close planning, and day 1 operational support
  • Provide management advice to our clients on all of the functional areas of the business based on the scope of the engagement, industry, and complexity of the transaction
  • Develop and grow a network of business connections inside and outside the firm to support and encourage practice and firm strategic objectives
  • Demonstrate the characteristics of a trusted advisor to internal and external clients and provide direction for the support of larger business objectives
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of TSA evaluation in the pre-close planning phase to identify the deal perimeter, what is inside, what is outside, and where the gaps will appear when executing the transaction
  • Identify what will need TSA or reverse TSA support, evaluate pricing and structure services, and provide planning to close the gaps with new services, systems, people, process, or contracts to meet operational needs
  • Identify stranded costs for the sell side and manage the exit process for the client to preserve and enhance value
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Synergy Assessment in the pre-close planning phase and synergy management to realization in the post-close phase of the engagement to support full value capture and enhancement through value engineering, cost management, and opportunistic wins
  • Work closely with complex delivery lead directors to support the sales cycle and manage the engagements in a profitable and professional manner


Basic Qualifications


  • 8 - 12 years of experience providing technical advice across all functions of business and execution in complex projects engagements
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, with the ability to train and develop your team member’s skills and approach to M&A integration and separation methods
  • Broad expertise in and knowledge of middle market business, with clients in the private equity, private funded, public traded and public sector businesses
  • Strong understanding of program management in either technical or business consulting engagements
  • Conversant in a range of business operational models
  • Strong financial capability to manage the financial outcomes from engagements
  • Advanced communication, presentation, project management, and business skills
  • Capability to develop business and sell services from across diverse firm offerings to fully support our clients on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to develop people and inspire them to succeed at every level of their career lifecycle
  • Ability to gain the respect of your team members and always lead with integrity
  • Exceptional executive presence and professionalism
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance and accounting, or technology


Preferred Qualifications



  • MBA or Master’s in a technical field
  • Experience in project management, finance, human resources, IT, manufacturing or supply chain
  • Experience across a range of industries, including industry alignment to PE (private equity)
