The Role

The Coordinator is responsible to support the development of new and existing Skills for Success (formerly Essential Skills), programs and services. The Coordinator will have a passion and curiosity for assisting vulnerable populations to develop the skills required in today’s workplace.

In this role the Coordinator will cultivate and sustain relationships and networks to support new programs and expand current offerings. The Coordinator will work closely with the responsible Associate Director and contribute to reports, claims and program documentation.

Responsibilities Include

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning of multiple Skills for Success projects
  • Identify and support the development of new project streams and opportunities, responding to market needs and funder priorities
  • Assist with proposal writing and identifying project resource requirements
  • Promote, cultivate and maintain partnerships and active participation in internal and external networks (such as the national Skills for Success network)
  • Provide support to community and project partners
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse range of vulnerable populations such as Indigenous Persons, Immigrants and Youth
Oversee, support and/or deliver all aspects of program services to meet the deliverables outlined in program agreements as follows.
  • Support Intake and Recruiting including:
  • marketing campaign to attract applicants;
  • client screening to assess learner suitability for the program;
  • complete participant forms and submit to funder as required;
  • maintain client records in CMS .
  • Oversee / Develop Customized Training to align to:
  • training or employment objectives;
  • the learner population;
  • online delivery;
  • Skills for Success integration in program activities.
  • Assessment:
  • Oversee / Administer Skills for Success / Essential Skills assessments;
  • Interpret assessments results and debrief with test takers
  • Oversee / Provide Instruction and Coaching activities:
  • through interactive group based online modules that incorporate opportunity to synchronous and asynchronous communication (webinars, discussion boards, chats, Blackboard classroom, reflections)
  • through F2F group based Facilitation;
  • Involve stakeholder evaluation and feedback to inform continuous improvement model of program delivery (such as ongoing participant evaluations, discussions with program funder);
  • Conduct summative and formative learner assessments
  • Ensure individual learners receive support and coaching as required to meet the objectives of the training
  • Administration and Reporting:
  • Maintain program and client records in CMS (including attendance, activity completion, progress);
  • Maintain organized electronic file system of curriculum with instruction guides on Share Point;
  • Communicate regularly with Associate Director and or/ Program funder to provide updates
  • Complete and submit reports and paperwork as required by funder;
  • Develop ISO program guide Contribute to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to program teams:
  • Schedule and chair team meetings
  • Monitor project progress and support corrective action when required to ensure achievement of contractual targets / outcomes
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Workplace training or related subject area;
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in labour market transition training programs for adults including vulnerable populations;
  • Have a passion for assisting adult learners from diverse backgrounds to build foundational skills for work, learning and life;
  • Possess strong knowledge of the labour market and Canada’s Skills Frameworks;
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and a proven ability to develop networks and foster effective and collaborative working relationships with diverse groups;
  • Demonstrate creativity and the ability to innovate;
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and coordinate multiple projects where conflicting priorities may arise;
  • Have highly developed interpersonal communication and team-building skills;
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills;
  • Understand the value and commitment to continuous improvement through a quality management system;
  • Possess strong technical skills;
  • Experience working with Essential Skills Programming an asset;
  • ESPT Certificate an asset.
