Key Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the 1st Cook, the Cook will prepare and cook menu items as they are received in accordance with established menu specifications;
  • Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly cleaning lists are completed;
  • Ensure all food storage areas are organized and clean;
  • Ensure food quality, food safety and service standards are met and maintained daily;
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures by following company Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Assist in training and education of all culinary staff including apprentices;
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5+ years of culinary experience working in a high volume kitchen.
  • Must possess a valid National or Alberta recognized Food Safe Certificate.
  • First Aid Certification is an asset.
  • Proven leadership skills and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work within a multi-cultural and unionized environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience with inventory and grocery ordering.
  • Excellent comprehension and command of the English Language.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, pull, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work a 20/10 rotation.
  • Union membership required within 30-45 calendar days.
  • CSTS Certification.
  • OSSA, ORCSO, ORBSO Certification required.
  • WHMIS 2015.

Overtime is paid for all hours worked in excess of 10 hours daily or 191 hours per calendar month.
